撒下 23:3> 人世间真正的太平，惟有系于那“和平之子”的身上……
23:3 大卫以先知的姿态讲述以公义治理人民，这预言应验在耶稣基督身上，祂再来的时候，要以完全的公义与和平统治全地。旧约之中也有类似的预言，（参赛 11:1-10 ；耶 23:5-6 ； 33:15-18 ；亚 9:9-10 。）关于这些预言，有许多在后来应验了（参太 4:14-16 ；路 24:25-27 ， 44-49 ；约 5:45-47 ； 8:28-29 ）。
大卫的勇士
撒下 23:8-39> 大卫的勇士名单，代表了尊荣；我是否也名列在神军队的勇士之列？
23:8-39 经文讲述大卫军队之中由特种部队建立的功绩。他们是两组出类拔萃的勇士；“三个勇士”与“三十个勇士”（ 23:18 ， 23 ；代上 11:11-25 ）。要名列这英雄榜，就必须在争战中显出无与伦比的勇气，正如作领袖人物要显出无比的智慧一样。“三个勇士”是全军最精锐的英雄；“三十个勇士”的名字，实际上有三十七人，不过它提到几个已经死去的人（例如在 23:39 之中的乌利亚）。这里显然有新人代替了在战场上阵亡的人。
撒下 23:16> 生命是属于神的，我的生命是否也一样的浇奠在神的面前？
23:16 大卫将勇士从伯利恒城门旁井里打上来的水，浇奠在耶和华面前；他不肯喝那水，因为他深为勇士牺牲的精神所感动。以色列人献祭的时候，从来不将血与祭牲一同焚烧，而是将血浇奠在神面前，因为血代表生命。大卫不愿喝这水，因为它代表战士的生命，所以将水奠在神面前。──《灵修版圣经注释》

感谢神．记念人（二十三 1 ～ 39 ）
是神的灵藉大卫讲出他最后的感言，这不是他自己的说话（ 2 ）。他清楚指出他的蒙恩、现在所处的地位及将来的盼望。我们在欣赏这段大卫末终的说话时特别要留意：
1. 大卫的自称：“神所膏立的王”──是国家人民的统管者；“以色列的美歌者”──属灵方面的供应者。
2. 介绍三位一体的神──“以色列的神”──圣父；“以色列的磐石”──圣子；“耶和华的灵”──圣灵。
大卫与神保持密切的关系，使他羡慕的是在神里面的好处，及三位一体的神所要成就的事：立永约、完成救恩、实现盼望（ 5 ）。
大卫没有忘记神，他也没有忘记一群忠心的勇士。因有这一群至死忠心的随从，大卫才能多次得免于难。大卫能够令到手下顺服、爱戴，实在有他特别的地方，从这段英雄录中我们可看到：
1. 大卫知道他们忠勇的表现，证明他是一位精 明的 君主，能辨忠奸，能知人善任。
2. 大卫欣赏他们的忠心，珍惜他们所做的一切。其中三人为他冒死取水，结果他不肯喝，并将水奠在耶和华面前。他如此爱臣民，难怪他能漠视冰天雪地、猛兽，且能以寡敌众了。
3. 大卫记念他们的功绩。每一位有功的勇士都记录在案，他们的劳苦没有白费，连他们的家族、父亲也沾了光彩。

1-7 大卫临终之诗
这篇诗紧接前章赞美之歌，犹如摩西的临终祝福尾随摩西之歌後面（参申 32-33章）。
1「作以色列的美歌者」：大卫以此自居也当之无愧，因他生平擅长作诗歌。
2「耶和华的灵藉着我说」：显示以下之言乃是受灵感而说的。
3-4 理想的君王──弥赛亚统治下带来的福气。
5 大卫虽距离理想君王甚远，但神却因着与他所立的约而使弥赛亚君王从他家而出。
6-7 恶人虽难对付，但终必被除灭。
8-39 为大卫和以色列争战的勇士名录
代上 11:11-47亦有此名录，不过那儿的记载较详尽，勇士多了十六名 。这些勇士帮助大卫得国，对抗非利士人。
8-12 三个勇士
8「约设巴设」：代上11:11为「哈革摩尼的儿子雅朔班」。
9「三个勇士」：一队英勇的战士，勋衔比其他兵士高，只低於元帅。
这儿提及的三个勇士是约设巴设、以利亚撒及沙玛。
13-17 三十个勇士中的三位忠勇可嘉的行为
本段的战争，可能与 5:17-26有关。
13「三十个勇士」：勋衔低於8-12的三个勇士，他们的名字记於24-36节。
15 伯利恒是大卫的家乡（撒上16:1），他怀念儿时家乡的井水。
16「将水奠在耶和华面前」：三个勇士冒死为大卫取水，大卫欣赏他们的作为，认为这些水太宝贵了（「好像他们的血」，17），
当作奠祭献给神。
18-19 勇士亚比筛
「这三个勇士的首领」：意思混淆，因8-12节的三个勇士并没有亚比筛的名字， 而13-17节的三个勇士是在三十个勇士里的。
显然亚比筛是三十个勇士的首领，因「三十」与「三」原文字根接近，或许是文士抄写之误。
有译本重译言两节如下「 ......
杀了三百人，就与这三勇士齐名。他岂不是比这三勇士有更大的尊荣麽？他虽不列在这三勇士
中，却作了他们的首领。」
20-23 比拿雅勇士的事迹

「亚利伊勒」：亚拉伯人及波斯人均以此称呼勇敢的人。
所杀的两个摩押人显然也非弱者。
21 「强壮的」：指身材高大。
23
「护卫长」：负责统辖基利提人及比利提人（20:23）。
24-39 三十个勇士的名字 这里的数目超过三十，因为这部队的成员随着阵入其他人填补空缺，以维持三十的数目。
约押并未列入名单内，可能因他是元帅，统领三十个勇士，或因他过去的恶行而被剔除。
39「共有三十七人」：这里只有三十二位。有学者认为这数目包括三个勇士、亚比筛和比拿雅。

二三1～7 本段是大卫非常优美的末了的话——即他最后发出的灵感诗歌。大卫以先知的姿态讲述以公义治理人民，这预言应验在耶稣基督身上，他再来的时候，要以完全的公义与和平统治全地。大卫描述那理想的统治者弥赛亚，他的统治要象漫长的暴风雨夜过后那荣耀的破晓，无云的清晨。大卫认识到自己并不符合所描述的情况，但对于神的约保证弥赛亚从他而出这个事实，却感到安慰。第6和7节描述基督再来设立他的国时对叛逆之子的审判。
三8～12 第8至39节记录大卫的勇士的名单。挺有意思的是，约押不在单名之上，也许因为他杀了押沙龙（更不用提押尼珥和亚玛撒！）。这段记录是接近大卫统治期间的结尾，相同的记载在历代志上十一章11至47节，名单却放在开头。虽然两个名单不完全相同，但大同小异。关于这些勇士，历代志上第十一章的注释有更详细的资料。
首三个勇士是：
1．约设巴设，又称伊斯尼人亚底挪——他一时击杀了八百人。（历代志上说三百人，相信是抄录之误。）
2．以利亚撒——当众军兵撤退后，他起来击杀非利士人，众民只在以利亚撒后头夺取死者的财物。战事结束之后，他手臂疲乏到一个地步（可能抽筋），手粘住刀把不能放开。
3．沙玛——当众民都在非利士人面前逃跑时，沙玛站在那块长满红豆的田间，独自击杀非利士人，保护了那块田，大获全胜。
二三13～17 这里提到的三个无名勇士来见大卫，当时他身在亚杜兰洞，而伯利恒在非利士人手中。大卫表示渴想喝一口伯利恒城门旁井里的水。这三个勇士就不顾性命，闯过非利士人的营盘，从伯利恒城门旁的井里打水，拿来奉给大卫。大卫对他们的奉献大为感动，将水奠在耶和华面前为祭；他感到自己不能喝那些水。威廉斯评论说：“那些靠近耶稣的人听到他心中爱的干渴，他想得到非洲、印度、中国人的爱。象这些勇士一样，他们离乡背井，放弃财富，冒着生命的危险，甚至舍弃性命，为要替基督赢取这些国民的爱和服事。这些国民就象伯利恒城门旁的井落在非利士人手里一样，他们无盼望地落在撒但的权势下。”
二三18～23 另外两个大卫的杰出英雄是：
l．亚比筛——他举枪杀了三百人；他也是第16节提到的三个勇士的首领，但他不是他们三个之一。
2．比拿雅——他杀了两个象狮子般勇猛的摩押人；又在下雪的时候下坑里去，杀了一个狮子；又杀了一个武装比他强的埃及人。
二三24～39 本段记录大卫三十（或三十七）个勇士的名单。本章有些数字需要解释，如“三十个勇士”（13、24节）和“三十七人”（39节）等。那三十个勇士可能是精锐的军兵，但一次过计算不同时间服役的人数，总共有三十七个。第一组有三个：约设巴设（或亚底挪）、以利亚撒和沙玛（8～12节）；第二组有两个：亚比筛和比拿雅（18～23节）；在第三组中（24～39节），“三十”这个数字可能是一个专用词，象“十二”指使徒，即使有一个或多个成员不常在那里。“三十”也可以是字面意思，而多出来的人可能代替在战争中死去的勇士，例如赫人乌利亚，他是名单上最后一个勇士，也是拔士巴的丈夫。
主耶稣也有他的勇士和勇敢的妇女！他重视他们，就如大卫重视那些勇敢地服侍他的人一样。不管我们是什么等级，让我们为真道打那美好的仗：
起来！基督的战士，
穿上神所赐军装，
靠着大能的神，
借着他永生儿子，
刚强勇敢。

二十三 1-7 大卫末了的话
这第二首诗歌的主题，跟第二十二章相仿，但更强调神与大卫所立的约，而较少提到仇敌。「匪类」要小心对付，但他们的灭亡是确定的（ 7 节）。
这诗篇承认大卫有先知的灵，使他能作以色列的「美歌者」。然而，最重要的，是本诗生动地描述了大卫作王的职分。由于他的治理有「公义」，并「敬畏神」，因而以色列得着奇妙的祝福（ 4 节）。
第 5 节提到的「救恩」，和大卫「一切所想望的」都得到成就，也是关乎他的治理；其中所指是以色列的胜利和昌盛。
二十三 8-39 大勇的勇士
神给予大卫帮助，使他能抵抗敌人，在上述两首诗歌中已提及。作者现在证明他也得到一些人的帮助，并列出他一些出色的将领。首先，有一组精英称为「三个勇士」，他们的英勇事迹在 8 至 12 节略述了。
第 13-17 节提到另外 3 人的功绩，他们位列于「三十个勇士」之中。
第 18-23 节从三十勇士中再挑出二人，亚比筛和比拿雅，他们两人都曾在先前各章提及了。
亚撒黑（ 24 节）在大卫作王早期被杀了（二 23 ），而乌利亚（ 39 节）之死，也曾在前文中提及（十一 17 ）。这表示有需要时，别的名字也会加在三十勇士的名单上，使数目变得确切。这样也可解释「三十七」（ 39 节）这个数字了。

本节至7节很可能是大卫临终前勉励其子所罗门的话，出以短歌形式（王上2：1-10）。这位“以色列的美歌者”在诗中预言了将来的事。3节显然指的是那要来的永生王，如“日出的晨光”，“以公义治理人民”。永在的神与大卫家立约，祂的救恩将从大卫家出来（5节）。
23：8 本章的后半为忠于大卫的勇士的一张名单，也见于《代上》11：10-47名字比此处稍多。
23：13
这些勇士投靠大卫的时候，当在大卫逃亡期间（撒上22：1-4）和攻取耶城之后（撒下5：17-18）。这里的“三个勇士”和9节的三勇士不同，不可混淆。大卫逃至亚杜兰洞的事见《撒上》22章。
23：24 本节至39节记有“三十勇士”中29人的名字；13-17节所记三人也属其内，勇士总数应为32人，《代上》11：26-47另外加了16人，可见这名单中包括阵亡和退职的勇士在内。
23：39 拔示巴的丈夫也是勇士之一。此处说总数为37人，当指24-39节所记29人，8-12和13-17节的各三人，添上亚比筛（18-19节）和比拿雅（20-23节）。
